Moreno Valley is part of the Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario Metropolitan Area. Now the second-largest city in Riverside County, it began in the 1800s but remained small until its revival in 1918 when the United States Air Force constructed March Field just outside of Riverside as part of its WWI expansion. This Field was initially used to train fighter pilots until it became a full Air Force base in 1927. As a result, the surrounding communities began to grow and develop. When WWII came around, March Field was once again in use as a training ground for military pilots.

From then until 1990, Moreno Valley began to grow and grow.
